AN INVITATION

Australia is a member of an international consortium that delivers annual international radar conferences. This series involves the US, UK, China, France and Australia.

RADAR 2008 represents the second time Australia has hosted this five nation series of RADAR 20xx conferences for which the AESS Radar Systems panel acts as international guardian (http://www.ewh.ieee.org/aes). The series is organised with the support of the relevant engineering institutions in the host countries, respectively Societe Des Electriciens et des Electroniciens (SEE) in France, the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) in the USA, the Chinese Institute of Electronics (CIE) in China, the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) in the UK and the Institution of Engineers Australia (IEAust) in Australia.

It was from the suggestion of Radar Systems Panel members Bob Hill and Mark Davis, frequent visitors to Australia, that the idea of RADAR 2003 in Australia took root. Our first conference, RADAR 2003 was an eminently successful conference and it is our plan to ensure RADAR 2008 is equally as memorable both professionally and as an opportunity to meet and network with colleagues.

The inaugural RADAR WEEK, September 8–12, 2008, will follow the 2008 International Conference on Radar. Choose from a series of 2-day short courses presented by international experts and/or a field trip to Kangaroo Island to explore HF Surface Wave Radar. Courses will be held in the Conference Centre, Technology Park Adelaide, Mawson Lakes, South Australia. Refer to  http://www.nicta.com.au/radar_week for more details and to register.

The Institution of Engineers - Australia allows credit towards Continuing Professional Development (CPD) at the rate of one point or CPD hour per hour of attendance at this conference and its associated tutorials.
